Payment for Study Abroad Programs

Financial Contract

After you have been accepted on a study abroad program, you will receive a contract. This financial contract contains the payment schedule for your program, a withdrawal policy, and the terms of the contractual agreement. Please be sure to read through this agreement before signing it and understand what is and is not provided for in the program fee. It is imperative that you understand withdrawal penalties and responsibilities as stated in the financial contract for Study Abroad.

  • It is the student's responsibility to see that payments are made in a timely manner. The OSA does not send invoices unless an account is delinquent.

  • Students who fail to meet financial obligations to the Office of Study Abroad may be withdrawn from the study abroad program, lose credit for study abroad, and be ineligible to enroll at the University of Kansas.

Payment Methods

  • All payment checks for the program fee for study abroad programs should be made payable to The University of Kansas and sent to: The University of Kansas Office of Study Abroad, Lippincott Hall, 1410 Jayhawk Blvd. Room 108, Lawrence, KS 66045-7515 (Please make sure that your name and KUID is on the check.)

  • Credit card payments (Master Card or Visa) may be made by calling 1-785-864-3742, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Withdrawal from a Study Abroad Program

If, after committing to participate on a study abroad program, you decide to withdraw, there are serious consequences for you to consider. Financial penalties for withdrawing are stated on the financial contract for your study abroad program. There may also be immediate financial aid consequences or the need to repay scholarships when a student withdraws. Please speak with your study abroad coordinator as well as with a Student Services Coordinator before deciding to withdraw from a program.
