Orientation

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) offers a week-long New International Student Orientation which is designed to help ease your transition into life in the United States and the University of Kansas. The orientation usually begins about ten days before the first day of classes, and includes many useful topics such as:

  • the enrollment process at KU
  • what to expect in a U.S. classroom
  • cultural adjustment
  • accessing healthcare in the U.S.
  • safety at KU
  • an Information Fair showcasing a variety of local activities

If you are an exchange student and you would like to attend orientation, please notify the Office of Study Abroad at osa@ku.edu. The OSA will enroll you and include the orientation registration fee and housing during orientation week as part of your exchange benefits. You do not need to enroll yourself, or pay any fees.

Because this is such an important opportunity, we strongly encourage all new international students to participate. You should plan your travel so that you can participate in orientation.
