Application Materials

After being nominated by your home institution to take part in the exchange program at the University of Kansas, you should complete a KU Office of Study Abroad application. Application forms are available from your study abroad coordinator, as well as online.

Application instructions

A complete application consists of the following:

  1. Application for admission.
  2. All official university academic records with coursework to date. Bring or send your updated records to the Study Abroad Office at KU.
  3. A letter of financial guarantee listing your financial resources for your term abroad
  4. One passport-type photographs.
  5. TOEFL exam scores for non-native speakers of English (preferred, but not required).
  6. A Statement of Purpose detailing what areas of study you intend to follow and how you are prepared academically for this program of study. Please list your current courses.
  7. An Autobiography about yourself, your family, extra-curricular interests, and hobbies.

Please turn in the completed application to your Study Abroad Coordinator. Your Study Abroad Coordinator will forward the application along with the nomination recommendation to the KU Office of Study Abroad.

The Office of Study Abroad will send you an official acceptance letter once the process is complete and you have been officially admitted. A DS-2019, necessary for your visa application, will be sent at a later date.
