Policy on Study Abroad in Dangerous Locations

The University of Kansas

The safety of our students and the quality of the educational experiences are the first priorities of the KU Office of Study Abroad. Due to concerns for student and faculty safety, the University of Kansas does not sponsor study abroad at locations where a U.S. State Department Travel Warning has been issued.

The Office of Study Abroad (OSA) does not encourage or provide support or sponsorship to students who want to study in a country where a Travel Warning is in effect. OSA staff will refrain from advising students about study opportunities in those countries, will not process resident KU credit for courses taken in those countries, and will not authorize the use of financial aid for students enrolling in such programs.
