Welcome Back!!!Welcome Study Abroad Graduates & Alumni

We hope you had a great experience on your study abroad program and the Office of Study Abroad would love to have your continued support upon your return. There are a number of ways you can support the Office of Study Abroad:

1. Complete the Study Abroad Evaluation

The Study Abroad program evaluation will be a questionnaire on your online study abroad application. Once your program has completed, we would really appreciate it if you could take a few moments to log on to your Study Abroad Account and complete the evaluation. Candid responses from program alumni are essential for us to review existing programs and develop new study abroad opportunities.  Student evaluations are also very helpful in advising future students interested in these programs.

2. Share Your Experience!

There are a number of opportunities to share your experience with students who are interested in study abroad. If you would like to participate in any of the following ways, simply contact our office at osa@ku.edu and let us know.
  • The first opportunity is quite simple: agree to be a returnee contact! Prospective students enjoy having someone to talk to about the way things really are abroad. Log on to your study abroad portal and click the "Manage your Alumni Information" link (Please note: this link will not be available until 3 months after your program end date).  In the "Manage your Alumni Information" section, you will be able to update your address information as well as choose to be a contact for prospective students who are applying or have been accepted to the program.  If you choose to be a contact, students will be able to contact you via email and you will also be able to write a short biography about yourself and your study abroad experience.

  • The second opportunity is to submit photos and/or write an article for Jayhawks Abroad, the OSA's on-campus newsletter published in the University Daily Kansan.  To find out more about submitting photos and/or writing an article, please review our Jayhawks Abroad Article/Photo Submission Guidelines. Photos can also be used for promotional material such as brochures and fliers promoting Study Abroad.  The Jayhawks Abroad submission deadline for the Fall  is usually mid-August and for the Spring is mid-January.  Exact dates will be advertised closer to the deadline.  If you're interested in writing an article but not sure where to start, check out previous publications of Jayhawks Abroad.

  • Volunteer at our Study Abroad Fair. Volunteering to staff a table for your program for an hour or two is a very important service and a great way for students to find out about programs. You can also volunteer at Study Abroad Orientation. This is a great way to share your wisdom with students about to depart on study abroad programs.

  • Become a Jayhawk Exchange Friend. Exchange friends are KU study abroad returnees who are partnered with an incoming exchange student for a semester or year. To learn more about the program, read our Jayhawk Exchange Friend Information.  To become involved contact the Office of Study Abroad Exchange Student Coordinator at osaexchange@ku.edu.

3. Attend a Re-Entry Session

The OSA offers re-entry workshops for returning study abroad students.  You'll have the opportunity to network with other returnees and to develop skills for making the re-entry process a smooth one.  In addition, the re-entry workshops will cover ways to maximize your international experience on resumes and cover letters and in job interviews.  Re-entry workshops are usually scheduled for the fall. OSA will send an email to all returning students once plans have been finalized.

4. Attend your Graduation Event during your Senior Year.

During your Senior Year you will be invited to our Graduation Event during graduation weekend.  Bring your family and friends and celebrate your graduation with other Study Abroad Alumni and our staff!
