The University of East Anglia

Norwich, England

Norwich, one of the most historic and picturesque cathedral cities in England, lies at the heart of rural East Anglia. It was the second most important city in medieval England, and its rich heritage can still be found within the old city walls, from the stunning medieval architecture of the old centre to the well-preserved Norman castle. The city has been recently voted on of Britain’s top cities for quality of life and prosperity. New developments are being started every month, from the University’s own regional sports centre to the redevelopment of the riverside area with shopping malls and multiplex cinemas.

The region around Norwich has much to offer. Just outside of Norwich are the Norfolk Broads, with its series of rivers and lakes, and the Norfolk coastline, with wildlife sanctuaries and miles of stunning sandy beaches.

The university admitted its first students in 1963 and now enrolls 13,000 students. The main campus is located three miles to the west of Norwich, in an area of outstanding beauty located on the slopes of the Yare Valley. UEA is particularly well known for its courses in Creative Writing and Literature, its School of Environmental Sciences, and for the spectacular Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
