The
University of New South Wales (UNSW), founded in 1949, is located in Kensington,
a southeastern suburb of Sydney. The University has a student population of
approximately 40,000, including 10,600 international students from over 120
different cultures. It is a modern, urban campus with extensive sporting and
recreational activities. There are over 200 clubs and societies on campus, covering
interests in the sporting, cultural, social, religious, hobby and intellectual
fields.
KU course equivalencies for the University of New South Wales
Sydney, the capital of NSW, is the largest and oldest city in Australia. It is an exciting, cosmopolitan city that offers more entertainment, shopping and sightseeing than any other place in Australia. It is home to over 4.1 million people.
Off-campus apartments with other international students are available through the UNSW Study Abroad Office.
Fall semester: Mid-July to late November (mid-semester break in late September)
Spring semester: Late February to early July (mid-semester break in mid-April)
Pre-semester programs are available in Marine Science, Coral Reef, and Asian Languages.
Applicants must have attained junior status by the beginning of the program and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Estimated program expenses (Spring 2008): Tuition and program fee are approximately $8,747, room and board $6,333, airfare $1,850, personal expenses $3,000, Australian health insurance $154, books and supplies $375, public transportation $250, Australian visa and passport $458. Total expenses are approximately $21,168.
KU students who qualify for financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Pell or SEOG Grants, and scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a Study Abroad Program.
Limited supplemental scholarships are available to KU undergraduates. Applications are available at the Office of Study Abroad. You can also download the scholarship application. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for Fall and October 1 for Spring.
